The Flippin Fire Department was established in 1957 as a full volunteer fire department. The department's first services were, for the most part, limited to fire suppression. As time went on, rescue was added, and eventually the addition of EMS services were added. The department started with 1 Fire Truck, a 1957 Chevy.
We offer many services to the community, some of which include: Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Fire Investigation, EMS, Rescue, Haz-Mat, and Public Service. This area of the department changes quite frequently with the addition of services as demands require.
The department is currently a volunteer department with a Full Time Paid Fire Chief. Department personnel currently consists of 16 personnel, which include men and women trained in Fire, EMS, Rescue, and Haz-Mat. The personnel of the department not only respond to emergency calls but also assist with community events and public services.
The Flippin Fire Department currently operates several types of apparatus. Most apparatus in the fire service is designed specifically for certain tasks. We currently have 6 different types of apparatus. This again is an area which is subject to change as demands require.
Our department works in conjunction with surrounding departments. This is done through automatic and mutual aid agreements between departments. These agreements allow pooling of resources such as equipment, apparatus, personnel, etc. So, the fire departments in the area essentially operate as one large department to better serve the citizens. This is accomplished through the use of the 911 system.
